Bowlus trailers were the first all aluminum travel trailer and were designed by Hawley Bowlus.

Bowlus trailers are made of riveted aluminum panels attached to welded steel tubing, similar to aircraft construction methods of the 1930's, and so are extremely lightweight.

First 1935 Bowlus Trailer Brochure

This is the first Bowlus brochure, as the name of the company is "Bowlus Manufacturing Company, " which was the first company that Bowlus manufactured trailers under.

1936 Four Page Brochure

This is a four page brochure which included three pages of trailer descriptions and one page for a letter.

Bowlus made two differing layouts of the Road Chief model. The "Standard", with the galley at the front and the "mid-kitchen" with the stove and sink in the middle. The "Mid-Kitchen" came out in April of 1936.

The company name has been changed to the third company making the trailers, "Bowlus Trailer Incorporated". The second company was called "Bowlus-Teller Manufacturing Company".

The date of the letter is August of 1936, and was very close to the date "Bowlus Trailer Incorporated" was shut down. The photos that go with the package are of a mid-kitchen trailer.
